Flooding in Our Synod

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

I write to you out of deep concern about members of this synod who live in danger of flooding because of the heavy rains we are experiencing. We are getting reports of flooding and property damage throughout the territory and of the potential evacuation of thousands of people in the northern reaches of the synod.

Lutheran Disaster Response is coordinated in this synod by Lutheran Congregational Services, Allentown, under the direction of Ruth Doty. LCS is already closely monitoring developments in order to assist wherever the need arises. Members of the synod interested in providing hands-on assistance are encouraged to call LCS (610-770-9205) or visit their website (http://lutherancongregationalservices.org/) for more information.

If you would like to make a financial contribution to assist the response in this synod, you are encouraged to make a contribution to the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, indicating that the funds be used for disaster response on the synod territory. Contributions can be mailed to the Lutheran Center, 2354 Grove Road, Allentown, PA, 18109-3044.

All members of the synod are encouraged to remember in prayer our sisters and brothers in affected areas.
