An Overwhelming Success!
LIFT (Lutherans
in
Faith
Together)
is over, but for nearly 800 people, the memory will linger on for a long
time.
Check back here for pictures of the event. Articles about
LIFT will be included in the July
issue of
Partners in the Spirit. Didn't go to LIFT?
Here is some of what you missed:
LIFT was a day-long event
for people of all ages with
playshops, games, worship, displays, famous figures of the past,
children's activities, and much more!
And all of that for $10 a person!
What's more, a family of 3 or more could come for the day for only $25 for the
whole family!
Be sure to check out the
exciting list of special music programs that
were presented during
LIFT. The keynote presentation was given by Bart Campolo,
founder and chaplain of Mission Year. (See below for more information
about our keynoter.
Also with us for the day was Tracy Radosevic, a dynamic, energetic,
internationally-acclaimed storyteller, educator, and retreat facilitator. Click here to read more about Tracy.

and song .

group that started in 1993 within the U.S. Lutheran (ELCA) community.

plays a key role. Click here to read more about Bread for the Journey.

LIFT Planning Team
Bread for the Journey is
a group of singers and instrumentalists who lead worship services,
sing-along concerts, and workshops. The group specializes in presenting
songs of faith, hope and justice from the Christian church near and far.
Bread for the Journey is committed to encouraging congregational singing,
sharing music with theological integrity, and helping music ministers to
inspire the community's song and serve the community's prayer.
Bread for the Journey offers a spirited, eclectic repertoire of
music, celebrating the faithful voices of Christian sisters and brothers
from around the world. In addition to a diverse collection of songs of
faith from North America, Bread for the Journey introduces a wealth
of music resources from the church in Latin America, Africa, Asia, the
Caribbean, and Europe. While many of the group's songs feature a capella
singing, others are backed with a range of appropriate instrumentation,
from guitars, flutes and fiddles to congas, claves and synthesizers.
Bread for the Journey teaches and leads songs that can be
sung easily by people from many musical and liturgical backgrounds, and
introduces music in an accessible and non-threatening way. The group
encourages congregational singing as an integral part of worship, and
emphasizes corporate singing over individual performance. Bread for the
Journey collects and shares songs that will be remembered and used.

their website.
